When The Chainsmokers drop a new track, expectations are always sky-high—but every so often, they go beyond polished EDM and deliver something that truly hits. Their latest release, “Echo”, is exactly that kind of moment: emotionally charged, melodically euphoric, and effortlessly immersive. It’s the kind of track that doesn’t just land—it lingers. And honestly, it stands among their very best work to date.
There’s also something undeniably special about their creative chemistry with Winona Oak (aka Oaks). Having first collaborated on “Hope”, the magic clearly hasn’t faded—in fact, it’s deepened. “Echo” feels like a natural continuation of that sonic relationship, elevated with time, experience, and a shared instinct for emotional storytelling.
“Echo” was born in the most magical environment in Norway with some of my favourite people and co-writers. (Håvard Sundland, Axel Lindroth, Mads Bjørsvik Songve, and Fred Well) Hearing The Chainsmokers production for the first time was incredible, they truly elevated it to another level. It feels beautiful and full-circle working with them again after our collaboration eight years ago on “Hope”. This song captures that overwhelming moment of falling when everything feels electric and there’s no way to escape the feeling no matter how hard you try.” Oaks reveals.
And that sense of enchantment truly radiates throughout. From the first listen, “Echo” wraps you in a shimmering haze of synths and soaring melodies that practically demand repeat plays. There’s a certain kinship here with “Miracle” by Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding—that same rush of euphoric release paired with emotional vulnerability.
Oaks’ vocal is the true heartbeat of the track: soft yet commanding, calming yet deeply affecting. It glides over the production with a kind of weightless beauty that pulls you further into its orbit.
Ultimately, “Echo” captures lightning in a bottle—the intoxicating thrill of connection, the emotional freefall, the irresistible pull of feeling something real. It’s not just a standout single; it’s a reminder of why The Chainsmokers remain such a compelling force in modern pop-electronic music.
