Having expressed our fears of an over-saturation of tropically driven bangers heading our way this summer, I have the pleasure to report that the EDM genre could well be looking a shade more wünderbar appealing. Since, if you’re not already aware, German producer Roosevelt alias Marius Lauber, is someone who doesn’t jump on the current trend-making hype seen through of the EDM genre, instead he chooses to innovate and up-cycles sound-forms out of classic turned, disco retrospect.

Although, the Cologne based DJ earned his stripes coming-up via the club-scene for some time standing. The road to realizing his debut album project only began to take shape over the last two years, owing to the fact his popularized, nostalgically dreamy take on nu-disco has in-turn seen his profile soar in demand and made him a much sought figure on the club-circuits.

On hearing the current focus track “Colours” it is highly suggestive that it has been time well spent though, being that Roosevelt’s dreamily lit, dance geared electronica grooves are equal parts retro and freshly baked to offer up a compelling combination of something both familiar whilst, at the same time new.

We hear in “Colours”, some of the strongest connect of 80’s electronic presence by Roosevelt yet, being that it is seemingly made up of so much of everything, which lovingly went into many of those back in-the-day extended remixes whose purpose were to largely give a better showcase of the production techniques and skills of the day.

Far from “Colours” calling all the shots of what has gone into Roosevelt’s up-coming self-titled debut album, I can certainly declare it as unrelentingly appealing and groovetasticly funkisized in the present, assured principally by the animatedly upbeat resolve in which Roosevelt is cutting his own path.
