It’s that exciting time of year again when I’m fully immersed in discovering emerging artists to watch in the upcoming months. After exploring solo acts and bands, my focus now shifts to the vibrant landscape of production talent. In particular, I want to spotlight Waives, an innovative producer from the eclectic streets of Camden Town, London. I recently discovered his captivating collaboration with singer-songwriter Reigns, titled “Collateral Damage.” This enchanting and atmospheric track highlights the mesmerizing qualities of the drum and bass genre. Specifically showcasing how beautifully this style of EDM can be when crafted with subtlety and finesse. Speaking on “Collateral Damage”, Waives shared “this would not be my usual genre but it just felt right in the moment so we went with that instinctive feeling and I’m really proud of the song we’ve created”.
Waives collaboration with Reigns on this dynamic release, showcasing Reigns as another remarkable independent artist on the rise. Boasting an impressive array of guest vocal appearances, she has teamed up with renowned talents like Benny Benassi and Breathe Carolina. As well as iconic producers such as Carl Cox, DJ Zinc, and Sam Divine, solidifying her presence in the music industry. Moreover, her deeply soulful vocals have resonated with listeners, featuring on over 250k playlists, proving her undeniable impact and appeal.
In “Collateral Damage,” Waives and Reigns compellingly examine the toxicity that can seep into relationships. Their narrative sheds light on how excessive mobile phone usage. This being a common aspect of our tech-driven lives—can lead to the unravelling of meaningful connections.
