It feels like a good moment to check back in with Bright Light Bright Light, especially as it’s been a few months since the last update. Since August 2025, a lot has been quietly building, and now it’s all starting to surface at once. Notably, from new tour dates to fresh music that expands the ever-evolving BLBL universe.
Firstly, the “Not Like All The Other Boys” UK tour is officially on sale and taking place this March. However, this isn’t a standard run of live dates. Instead, the shows focus on context and connection, placing songs within the stories that shaped them. Recently trialled at culturally significant venues such as the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, the format has revealed just how little many audiences know about the journeys behind tracks they already love. As a result, the shows promise something more intimate, reflective, and emotionally engaging.
Alongside the tour comes news of new music. Later this year, Bright Light Bright Light will release a new EP titled “Duets“, a project that revisits previously solo tracks and reimagines them as collaborative recordings. Drawing from across Rod’s career, the EP celebrates creative relationships while offering fans a new way into familiar material.
The first single from “Duets” is “Cold Sweat, Hot Boys”, a collaboration with Ana Matronic. Inspired by one of Ana’s DJ sets at Wet Noise in New York, the track unapologetically leans towards the dancefloor. From the outset, it captures the endorphin rush of late-night clubbing — sleek, euphoric, and irresistibly kinetic. Moreover, the pairing of Bright Light Bright Light and Ana Matronic feels entirely natural, with their combined energy elevating the song into something vibrant and fully realised.
Reflecting on the track, Rod explains “The original demo ended up as a bonus track on “Enjoy Youth”, but it never felt fully complete. After hanging out in 2025, one night I thought: why not ask Ana to re-record my vocals, since the song was written about a night she created? Suddenly it felt like it was in its final form. I reworked the production so Ana’s vocals sizzle over the top, and as one of my favourite people on earth, it’s a joy to have yet another song featuring this wonderful human. I love Ana beyond words.”
Taken together, the tour and the “Duets“ EP mark an exciting chapter for Bright Light Bright Light. One that blends reflection, collaboration, and dancefloor joy in equal measure.
