It is the collaboration which has been burning to happen for a long time. For almost a decade Stockholm producer, Nause (Jacob Criborn) has worked remixes for, producer, DJ and pop duo Rebecca & Fiona. Surprisingly, while, both parties have scooped up an armful of Grammy awards between them, it has taken the Swedish talents as long as this, to finally, record an actual, original track together. Approaching, the tenth anniversary as work associates seems a good time to set this record straight. They do so, by giving us “Can’t Erase,” a stomping dance-pop, crossover track which will help us to usher out this decade into the next, on New Year’s Eve.

I have noticed, that December’s new music releases have been somewhat light on party anthems this year. To be fair, I don’t just mean pummelling dance tracks per se, more melodically, upbeat offerings which also have good lyrics seem to be in short supply. In this respect, I feel the Nause and Rebecca & Fiona collaboration couldn’t have arrived at a better time. Especially, with the break around the festive holidays, really starting to kick in, in the last, few days.

The song is a little sad, as it speaks about falling out of sync with someone. Yet, doesn’t linger in this sentiment for long, as it zooms right back into the happy zone by stating. That despite all, differences, Rebecca & Fiona would have their friends back should the need arise. I think with all the uncertainty the world has had spilt into it, in 2019. Ending on a euphorically hopeful note like this makes perfect sense to me. Besides 2020 is yet to be written. I vote that we take some positive energy from this song and channel it into the new year ahead.
