It seems Eleanor was easing us in with the shimmery synth-pop stylings of debut release “All I Want“. She’s charging ahead into pure pop territory on follow-up single “Under My Skin“. It’s alright I’m more than OK with this shift in style actually, the glowing dynamics of the melody gently make this transition seamless. The electronic soundscape remains strong on this new song nevertheless, the overall approach on “Under My Skin” beats with a noticeable pop current.
Lyrically Eleanor is staying with what she knows giving us lessons in love through the narratives of her songs, much like her former band Girl Friend did.
Eleanor is pairing honeyed female vocals and catchy melodies with a desirable electronic pop sound. The results are hugely lovely and evocative. I am drowning in the retro heaven of it all.
