2016, was a very productive year for the singer BB Diamond, in the way of singles it brought us such audio delights as tracks the “Feeling” and “Praying” and really, seemed as though the rising artist was unstoppable. The only reason we didn’t hear a peep of a musical note from BB last year, was because she headed off to the studio to work on some new songs with the likes of DJ Fresh, LDN Noise, 99 Souls, Sub Focus and One Bit. Here’s the good news, “Man or a Monster“, the first new single in over a year is available now.
Drawing on influences from soul, house and R’n’B, the wholly addictive pop-house banger “Man or a Monster” is a welcome reminder of just, how much we’ve missed BB’s soulful singing voice. Having already collaborated on the sensuous dance track “Gone Missing” the singer teams up again with future garage producer/artist Shift k3y, to un-tap more of their soulful vibes and bass down low rhythmic beats, on the track.
A seductive elegance comes off BB as she begins her soul-stirring performance on the song. From soul to the dance floor, the common factor for all of these influences is a raw honesty that permeates Diamond’s work. Always confident and charismatic. The singer has a message to anyone, feeling a bit used or treated badly by a close friend or lover. On the inspiration behind the track, BB says: “Man Or A Monster is an F.U to all those serial relationship cheaters and deceivers. In any relationship, there is the good and bad, but when it all turns ugly, that’s when you need to get the hell out of there!”
Shift K3y certainly adds a touch of, groove to this song but it is BB’s soulfully assured vocal chops which continue to make her a definite one to watch in, 2018.
