Aidan James is a future star in the making he’s only now just 16 years old, yet incredibly the young fellow has lived most of his tender years performing and increasing his presence ever since he made it as a YouTube sensation at age 8. Moving from child to teenage prodigy, Aidan’s first introduction to music surprisingly saw the young Hawaiian take up the ukelele it’s been the tool which has acted as the initial launchpad and enabled him to look deeper into other areas of musicianship, like songwriting. At ages 13 and 14, he was nominated for Hawaii’s prestigious Na Hoku Hanohano Award for EP of the Year and Contemporary Album of the Year respectively. Consequently, the new direction he’s concentrated upon is that of a singer-songwriter. For the release of the single “What My Friends Talk About” he’s even, growing into a cool but geeky image where he’s seen sporting nerdy frames.

The song begins with an acoustic vibe making use of his ukelele capabilities but as it progresses, introduces in some electronic stylizing which makes the track far more interesting to our electronic pop-loving ears here at EQ. When Aidan sings he has a lovely tonality to his vocals, this is another example of how versatile the teenager is. With many creative processes going on in this song, it serves the youngster well to make inroads into the pop genre.
