I am so glad that I picked up on the Swedish duo Storme when I scoured the internet earlier this year, while on a jaunt to unearth a new music discovery, off of my own back. Vocalist Amanda Liedberg and producer Gabriele Mazza have impressed me so much with each of their scintillating synth-pop singles that I am hard pressed to call out an absolute favourite, they are all that good. I am delighted the track “Be My Drummer” has been unleashed by way of rounding up a stellar year of releases. I definitely feel good vibrations around this duo and am confident it will carry through to an even more productive, 2019.

The latest track “Be My Drummer” see’s Amanda emulating a pleasingly noticeable likeness to Robyn in her vocals. I have also seen other people picking up on a similarity to Kate Bush, which is a very recognisable observation to make as well. No question when it comes to the frenetic synth styled melody of the track, Gabriele is giving us his own full burst of Robyn influenced flickering beats, possibly I feel, inspired in part by the Swedish sad-pop Queen’s most acclaimed tracks “With Every Heartbeat” and “Dancing On My Own.” While I know emerging artists especially, are not so keen to have comparisons drawn towards their music. I really hope Storme embrace these comments because they really are a way of affirming to the uninitiated listeners who haven’t heard the music before how seriously good they are.

Of the track, Amanda explains.

“I wrote “Be My Drummer” about the search for that one person who can dance to your beat. Someone who matches your own energy and, wild passion for life. Can that special person you’ve met create his own waves, will he do the unexpected and lift you higher?”

In my estimation, this track marks a really big step for Storme, building up from their previous singles “Starlight” and “Volcano.” As long as, the duo continue to create their own waves of dazzling synth-pop I count myself as someone who will more than happily, dance to their beats. Just an additional note of something especially exciting the duo are currently working on. They are also in the process of recording the soundtrack for a new 6-part ITV drama, “The Bay’” set to air in 2019. Heed my advice remember their name as before very soon they will be a band everyone will be buzzing about.
