The wait is over! Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears launches his solo career today. The hype has been growing on this new venture for Jake ever since spring of this year when tickets went on sale for a few select dates in the US over the summer. I knew it only had to be a small matter of time before the music arrived but, unbeknown to me I had not envisaged that it would fit in as a treat around Halloween. In a statement sent out to fans via email, Jake announced theatrical jam “Creep City” as the first taste of his solo material.

I’ve seen even more flamboyant than usual photographs of Jake floating around the internet over the past few months. I’m sure I won’t be the first or last to say this, my first thoughts on seeing these were “oh my gosh Jake’s been going through Sir Elton’s 1970’s storage locker”. To be honest, it was a fun and iconic time for Elton but, it all seems to make some sense when Jake signed off his email like this – “The world is upside down right now. In the thick of it, I feel that we still need tunes that make us smile, that make us wanna sing and dance like fools.”

As the man himself has said, he wants us singing and dancing he’s put out the right song with “Creep City“, to put us under a party till we drop spell. The track has the same sort of the magic as vintage Scissor Sisters. Prepare for a kiki and pick up your FREE DOWNLOAD (details on Soundcloud).

If you’re hungry for more, there are a further two dates to catch Jake live. US ‘Elsewhere’ – Brooklyn NY Nov 12 / UK ‘Heaven’ – London Nov 14.
