Just recently we documented upon pop prodigy MNEK’s beckoning solo career, when we threw some light and words down in review of the emerging stars latterly acoustic presentation of a track titled “Don’t Call This Love”, and which came in aid of a warm-up to the revealing of the debut single.
MNEK’s debut proper has been one that has hugely been anticipated upon and only heightened in the eager longing for by the recent collaborations with both Gorgon City and Duke Dumont.
Now “Every Little Word” the debut has arrived our expectations have been met and more.
Seeing as the title of Funk Lordz has already been designated to Chromeo, and Duke Dumont is like doh, the Duke, what on earth are we to christen MNEK already?! as the fathermucker funkin’ 90’s house slickness teamed with the soulfully smooth and killer vocals that have been revealed on “Every Little Word” has quite set MNEK on course to steal some much earned prime time awareness of his own.
From his early bedroom pop creations as a 14 year old, did we ever imagine such an electro soul enriched growth would develop? I guess for the most part we probably did not envisage it, given the pop outlook we were fed. Let’s just say now we are in the proverbial room with it, we are slain and MNEK has unequivocally served his time as a relatively unknown, welcome to the BIG TIME MNEK.
