Hatchets

By Mandy Rogers

Music from the Latin quarters doesn’t have to be all maracas
and Spanish guitars, or even hip swaying electro pop (although we are rather
fond of it). The Brazilian’s in particular do have a flair for rolling out
gritty and angular new-disco wave indietronica as fashioned most prominently by those Cansei De Ser Sexy
types of CSS.

Treading in their footsteps and winning a crowd around their
augmented rocktronic synth dappled sound, step into the light – Hatchets, who
bring forth “Chinese New Year’s Love”.

With a splash of vintage Passion Pit verve and a tropical
swerve of glo-fi flicker, Hatchets deliver a chrome capped disco rocktail that
see’s us shaken and stirred with awakened curious interest.
