monarchy

One of our favourite music duo’s ever, is the working partnership of Ra Black and Andrew Armstrong, aka Monarchy.

What makes their music so special to us? Well you could say their ability to consistently impress with a supply of pristine electronic pop gems, with each one so meticulously crafted to the point of excellence. As for the art and abstract presence that goes hand-in-hand with the duo’s packages, well that has become very much a given component that comprises the Monarchy make-up also.

It’s very rare that we’ve been given a glimpse into Monarchy’s inner sanctum of the recording studio but seeing as they are currently mid-way into a tour of US / Canadian dates, they’ve let us in on a stunning acoustic rendition of “It’s All I Know” off of their recent “Abnocto” album.

This track itself served as quite a departure from all that we have heard from Monarchy previously. Consider it that they ceased the moment to give us a bespoke and personal ballad. If it were not for Ra’s familiar soothing falsetto we’d hardly know it as Monarchy, that being said it’s kinda nice to hear them step away from the frenetic synth-pop stylings to show us what lays beneath the electronic embraced exterior of synth-pop duo Monarchy.
