Secret WeaponsSecret Weapons have something incredible in their arsenal – a surefire hit single. Just like Shut Up & Dance was always going to be a killer single for Walk The Moon (whether you liked it or not, you just KNEW), Secret Weapons are going to smash it with ‘Something New

Long on our must watched acts at CMJ, we ran into them at the BMI and HD Radio showcase at Williamsburg’s The Knitting Factory as part of bill that included the EQ Music tipped Sizzy Rocket and sister girl group Frances Rose.

Naming 80s influences such as Tears for Fears, Hall and Oates, and Cyndi Lauper as part of their ethos, Gerry Lange and Dan E. have only officially been together 6 months, but are much hyped throughout CMJ with this, their first show, pretty packed late on a Tuesday night.  All in black, with lots of sexy hair, they’re look just like you hope and impress sounding just as good live as they do on record. They are, in fact, exactly the type of band you might have expected to show up early in their career for a late night set down at London’s seminal electro-night Nag Nag Nag back in the early 00s.
We need to hear more from the boys to tell if they’re in it for the long run, but with a Beats 1 play happening today and support slots on the upcoming Nate Ruess tour, labels should be fighting over what will become a total radio smash hit.
