A shift is happening in pop music. Did you notice bands are once again growing in trend? Although, personally, I am still waiting for a new hot boy band to emerge. In the meantime, however, we can look up to bands like MUNA and HAIM, who are leading the way. But undoubtedly some incredibly talented bands are also springing up. The Melbourne-based trio Blusher, for example. Their euphoric pop music is really making waves, thanks to its exciting energy and thoughtful lyrics. Moreover, Blusher’s 2022 debut single, “Softly Spoken,” took everyone by surprise, including the band themselves!
Blusher’s rise to fame has been nothing short of impressive. After a successful debut show in September, the band has recently released their latest track, “Dead End.” The song’s theme of going out clubbing as a means to escape suburban monotony has secured them on the fast track. Since signing with Atlantic Records, Blusher is lined-up with a packed schedule. They have upcoming live performances in Australia and are down as special guests for Splendour In The Grass sideshows with Tove Lo. Their pop appeal has even landed them a spot in Brighton’s, The Great Escape festival lineup. In addition, they have announced a show at Colours Hoxton on May 14th, as well.
This band has experienced a whirlwind of activity lately. Everything is moving pretty rapidly. Similarly, it is exciting to note, in addition to the upcoming live dates, that their debut EP “Should We Go Dance?,” is out on July 14th. On top of all that, as we might anticipate, they just unveiled another new track, “Backbone“.
In the song, they
“…sing about the way that heartbreak can strengthen and empower friendships.” And, further explain, “It’s a fiery, energetic love song to the friends who have your back through it all. “Backbone” is aptly named. Its themes of power, confidence and deep friendship are the foundation of our band.”
The definitive synth-pop sound and style of Blusher has created a serious buzz. Considering the impending release of the debut EP, as well as upcoming live dates, that buzz is sure to explode.
