It has been so long that I am having difficulty recalling when I last introduced EQ Music Blog readers to the debut release of a newly formed boy band. While it might be the case the K-pop music scene is bursting at the seams with pitch-perfect boy bands that nail slick, synchronized routines and highly complex dance choreography. The same cannot be said of the international pop music realm in general. Therefore, when I was notified about the impending debut release from the buzzed-about Israeli-Jewish and Palestinian-Arab male pop group As1one a few weeks ago. I was intrigued to learn more.

In the summer of 2022, the band As1one was founded, consisting of Ohad Attia, Sadik Abu-Dogosh, Aseel Farah, Niv Lin, Nadav Philips, and Neta Rozenblat. The group’s formation was the result of an extensive nationwide search led by industry veterans James Diener and Ken Levitan, renowned for their work with Maroon 5 and Kings Of Leon respectively. Upon relocating to LA. The band underwent a rigorous training program, focusing on songwriting and recording, under the mentorship of acclaimed industry figures such as Nile Rodgers and Justin Tranter.

In a significant development. This week marks the launch of their appropriately titled debut single “All Eyes On Us,” featuring mentor Nile Rodgers. The song’s message underscores the band’s unbreakable bond rooted in brotherhood. As1one is a positive influence, surmounting obstacles with determination. Furthermore, they refuse to let the on-going conflict between Israel-Hamas disrupt their closely-knit group. Their aim is to motivate future generations to follow suit—a message that holds even greater relevance today.

Their training regime coupled with everyone’s hard work on this project is paying dividends. As noted in the music video release for “All Eyes On Us.” As1one has got the boyband aesthetic down to an art. They seem like the perfect token, pop pin-up boys. They look good and most importantly they sing well, these are definite plus points for any emerging boyband. Moreover, the music video is a notable display of solidarity, includded with a little bit of insight of the in-studio process with Nile Rodgers. This first glimpse at As1one brings to light a band with the musical power to stick around. While the catchy, pop track “All Eyes On Us” is certain to make pop music fans curious about them.

I like the song, but I am especially keen to get a glimpse of the boys individual characters. However, we will be able to gain some real insight about the group. A Paramount+ docuseries charting the As1one journey is out later this year.
