This isn’t the first time, Australian pop singer-songwriter TIN has appeared on EQ Music Blog. We gave a fleeting, introduction to the singer back in May. When he collaborated with UK singer-songwriter and producer Lostchild on a cover of the Troye Sivan and Ariana Grande track “Dance To This.” Although TIN is Lostchild’s life partner, he is very much a pop artist in his own right. With that said, don’t be surprised if you see them feature together on music releases. Because of the pandemic, they have been kept apart on opposite sides of the world. Their bond of making music has been a focus and help to keep them connected.

We previously got to see the fun side of TIN, with Lostchild (which was super nice.) In releasing his latest cover song, an interpretation of the Spice Girls track “Viva Forever” we learn more about TIN’s music, artistry and creativity.

“For many, this time of year can actually be really, sad and difficult. This year especially with the pandemic, it’ll be the first time that certain loved ones aren’t around and I wanted to honour those people.” TIN explained over email.

TIN’s update on the Spice Girls 1997, class track exhibits modern touches. Emotive vocals from TIN, with wafts of atmospheric production from Lostchild. While being reflective in mood, TIN’s sober side comes to the fore on this interpretation, unveiling deeper, thoughtful and profound qualities which were hidden from us previously. All sounds achingly beautiful here and is in direct complement with the Jonathan Fang directed/edited music video. The ethereal clip captures TIN wandering through a gorgeous Australian woodland reflecting in part, the kind of visual vibe the Spice Girls opted for on their original music video. All similarities stop there. TIN is seen dressed in a series of stunning outfits. He designed and sewed the harness in the first look as well as the whole of the second look (white frilly cape etc.) The final look is TIN’s sister’s dress. Geri, Ginger Spice Union Jack dress has held out as being a symbolic gesture of ultimate girl power, down the years. I think TIN’s frocks are equally as iconic.
