If you were of the assumption that there was only one Solange who runs new pop, we now break the news to you, that despite the unusual name, the more widely known Solange Knowles is now joined in christian name on the new music scene by young Portuguese namesake Solange Hilário.

Although, the odds on Ms Hilário having a sister called Beyonce and a Brother–In-Law called Jay-Z are a highly unlikely occurrence, the burgeoning pop star who is already quite the star turn in her native Portugal is looking to make a splash here in the UK with her memorably fetching urban pop cool debut single “Tick Tock”.

We can make point that this Solange is not taking a leaf out of Kesha’s book either, who also in the mists of time (as we know) back in 2009, made her own pop debut with a track called “Tik Tok”. Solange’s single is suited and booted with a sophisticated sheen of bubbling R’n’B grooviness running through it that’s more in-keeping of the similar sound patterns that AlunaGeorge have been bringing us over the past few years.

Solange’sTick Tock” also goes much deeper than Kesha’s party, party, themed “Tik Tok”. Solange’s debut is more lyrically concerning to that of the happenings and inner voice of a woman’s body clock. Sitting pretty as a mere 20 year old I don’t consider that Solange has much to worry about this topic already really, but anyways foresight in anything is always a good thing to be savvy of.

What we can now take from this and be especially savvy of ourselves, is of course, that Solange Hilário sure knows how to make new fresh pop that appeals to the EQ ears. Not to be a surprise really, when learning that the impending new pop starlet has been collaborating with MNEK and legendary Danish producer Cutfather.
