Since 2023 got underway, the newcomers have started to stack up rapidly. So far, I have spotlighted dark-pop, synth and electro-pop and up-and-coming production acts. The singer-songwriter I highlight today, Samira (Mighty) has her sights firmly set on the pop world and the clubs. She kicked off in style last year by sharing an interpretation of the Shanice global top ten hit “I Love Your Smile“. Today, armed with the Cutfather (Kylie Minogue and The Pussycat Dolls) produced and co-written debut single, “Like This, Like That“. She reveals a dance-pop banger in which she sought inspiration from mega-pop stars like Rihanna and Britney.

Having performed on West End stages and TV shows like Love Island and X Factor over her career, Samira is already a familiar face to many. However, we know very little about her own music style, but we have some indication in the debut track. Since this introductory release is a seriously catchy club-bound bomb.

Commenting on the writing session for “Like This, Like That,” Samira says,

“As soon as I heard the final version I knew it had to be my first solo release, it’s so me! It’s dark, sexy and mysterious – a real statement of intent and the perfect track to show the world who I am as an artist.”

Of course, Samira is not the first star on stage or screen to embark on a music career, and neither will she be the last. Yet with a song as enormous and earworm-worthy as “Like This, Like That,” speaking truthfully, this is a launch on a colossal scale. She has undeniable star quality, and dare I say it. As early as we are into 2023, undoubtedly, it is one of the boldest and most exciting pop songs this year. Therefore, we had better believe the chances of Samira becoming a global sensation are favourable. At the very least, we must take her seriously in this new venture and mark her as an exceptional new pop talent for 2023.
