There’s something undeniably electric happening within London’s emerging alt-electronic pop scene right now. A fresh wave of artists are confidently embracing synth-driven pop while injecting it with personality, emotion and fearless storytelling. One name that’s been lighting up my radar recently is Dirt Flirt, the project of London-based multi-instrumentalist Kit Eaton-Kent.

I’ve been spending time this week with the addictive new single “focus on u”, while also diving back into the artist’s earlier work. Dirt Flirt’s self-titled debut EP arrived last year and instantly struck me as something special. A collection of songs brimming with thoughtful, confessional lyricism. Across the project, this artist openly navigates messy breakups, identity and the ongoing process of self-discovery, all wrapped in sleek alt-pop production that feels equally suited to headphones or the dancefloor.

One track that really stands out from the EP is “Necklace. A brilliantly clever piece of songwriting that perfectly captures the project’s blend of emotional honesty and playful pop sensibility.

Fast forward to now, and Dirt Flirt’s momentum is clearly building. The newly released “focus on u” dives headfirst into the intoxicating haze of infatuation. That all-consuming feeling when one person suddenly becomes your entire universe. She describes the shimmering pop gem as a song that “explores obsession and devotion, and how when you fall for someone it can feel like they’re the only other person in the world.” It’s glossy, infectious and brimming with that irresistible kind of replay value.

The visuals accompanying the track lean into a charming DIY aesthetic. (Something that actually enhances the emotional core of the project). There’s an authenticity in the rawness that feels refreshing, reminding us that great pop often comes from creative freedom and genuine self-expression.

The single also arrives alongside the announcement of a brand-new EP, ” Scorpio Fever“, set for release on 22nd May via Final Girl Records. The five-track project promises to explore a darker emotional landscape, tracing the arc of vulnerability, obsession and eventual release.

These early releases indicate Dirt Flirt feels very much like a project on the cusp of something special. It’s an exciting moment to tune in — and one that suggests the Dirt Flirt story is only just beginning.
