994527_531184376942772_1883258479_nAfter multiple delays, leaked tracks and mess – Mexican singer, songwriter, actress and wig-snatcher Belinda is back! She locked up herself in the studio for the past year with award-winning Latin producers to (Finally!) present her 4th studio album “Catarsis”. Representing the Latin Pop scene with a more mature (and BETTER) sound, the 14-track LP introduces you to Belinda’s new direction in her pop career that fans seem to be loving. Best era to date? Let’s elaborate.

Preceeded by three singles, including the top-10 hit “En El Amor Hay Que Perdonar“, Belinda’s new record relies on ballads, contemporanous electronic beats and synths, along with the talent of Victor “El Nasi”, Vein and Andres Castro. The now #1 album (in Mexican charts) has the potential to crash radio with tracks such as “Esto Es Amor”, “En la Obscuridad” and, my personal favorite, “Dame Más”.  However, the album has its own flaws with “I love you… Te quiero” just for the fact that it features the herpes virus himself of music, Pitbull and Bailaria Sobre el Fuego’s (dubstep version) that fell in the cliche and basic, instead of making you fall off of your chair.

After listening to the songs mentioned above, the album quickly transforms into strong pop ballads with “Como Si Fuéramos Novios”, “Nada”, “No Me Vuelvo A Enamorar”, “Vuelve A Mi” and the outstading/powerful ballad “Caminaria Sobre El Fuego” that it is guaranteed to be on repeat for days.

“Catarsis” will surprise every EQ Music reader that has listened to Belinda’s previous material. Let’s pray she sticks to this new direction she has taken so we can continue loving her.
