Years and Years

If I thought Years & Years had unfinished business with debut album “Communion” that would see them produce a single release from it, I tell you, I would have firmly put money on them capitalizing, going with the upbeat anthem rouser “Gold”.

A year down the line from “Communion’s” release and its subsequent flurry of singles, Olly, Mikey and Emre have turned to the mid-tempo weighted, gospel affected track “Worship” to see the promotion cycle through to its finale.

What a finale this is! One in which Olly puts his dramatic acting skills in place for a simply powerful performance of interpretative expressionism, defiantly and proudly routed in queer culture.

The clip portrays an array of emotional content through strong imagery which concentrates around staring down intolerances towards the LGBTQ community.

It’s really gripping, in that Olly seamlessly morphs through highly emotive choreography to bring across acute awareness of LGBTQ visibility, in so much that he’s going about it in a must watch, hard-hitting but courageously fearless approach which speaks volumes through the bold use of body language.

The impact that this visual clip leaves in its wake is profound and deep-seated with empowerment.

An important social statement well made from Olly Alexander and Years & Years!
