Lawson

Can we believe it’s been a full 6 months since pop band Lawson stepped back into the limelight with the first showing of new material since their celebrated debut album “Chapman Road”.

The British four piece have kept themselves busy performance wise, since the release earlier this year of their toe-tapper single release “Roads” and which subsequently lead the band on a whistle-stop circuit of promotional engagements throughout the summer, together with better establishing themselves over in the US – touring as the support act to the indie-pop acclaimed Australian outfit Sheppard.

After this 6 months wait, the UK is sure enough ready for more of new Lawson tunes to be with us. And, so realising our neediness, the guys have fashioned together the “Lawson” EP, which acts more in-keeping of a taster to what sophomore album (rumoured to be titled “Perspective”) might bring.

Along with single “Roads”, the EP is being serviced by the pleasureably uplifting track “We Are Kings”. It’s a real hands waving in the air affair and is adhering much more to the Lawson of way back yore. One in which Andy’s vocals take on a new level of powerhouse significance.

So yes, as Lawson have been working on raising their international profile, the promo clip reflects some of experiences encountered during their life on-the-road these past few months.

Talking of which, the guys have just announced a UK winter tour, which will follow on from a string of Australian dates in support of Robbie Williams.

I’d be surprised if we hear anything more of the sophomore album this side of Christmas, but early 2016 I feel is looking hopeful.
