Who remembers that catchy belter of a pop number “Safe and Sound” by L.A. duo Capital Cities, that took on a large life a couple of years ago? We surely do, as that track was inescapably everywhere!

The duo are back after studio break and they are sounding as vibrantly addicting as ever.

Avid video gamers might be well introduced to Capital Cities latest track “Vowels” since it landed a coveted spot on the FIFA 17 soundtrack but we happen to think there’s legion more of casual gamer boys and gamer girls who might find it as a stuffer in their Christmas Stocking in a few weeks time.

True-to-form Capital Cities have put out a dazzling effort in “Vowels” which shows to a large extent the duo’s knack for conjuring up a massive wave of melody that has the ability to spread like wildfire into a chorus of whistles and hums on the lips. As for the phonetically pronounced chorus itself, resistance is futile!

With the video now released, it’s a return to a side-order of quirky innovation and way more thought provoking than the average. Sometimes we take for granted the gifts we have been given, and that makes us humans function. How frustrating must it be to be unable to speak? The development of sign-language made trapped voices heard, is one of the most powerful of all innovations and is at the crux of Capital Cities “Vowels” video.

If a pop music video can make us stop, think a little and appreciate what makes us tick, or how we overcome any obstacles we might face in our day-to-day lives then it’s a good thing. Reinforced even the better with a bop of tune to catapult it along.
