They may already own a Swedish Grammy for their work but, since learning the ropes as it were, via their DJ-ing activities and previous collaborations, Scandipop duo Rebecca & Fiona are citing new single “Sayonara” as debuting their real identity as an EDM-centric pop duo.

In all actuality though, “Sayonara” leans further over into the pop formula than it does of EDM.
Lightly candy coated, pastel pop if you will, strung together with a splash of retro glamour and a hint of Icona Pop influence.

The totally babilcious Rebecca & Fiona exude Barbarella cuteness in their vintage wardrobe of sparkly shift dresses, hot pants, playsuits and platform shoes. Festooned by a 70’s style backdrop of geometric designs it appears though we’ve been time travelled into an Ikea show room of 40 years ago.

The only telling clue that “Sayonara” is a hit made of modern times comes through the lyrics “Fuck the World, I don’t care anymore” – cussing like that sure wouldn’t have been allowed on a pop recording from anyone, let alone from two foxy lady types.

In 2015, I’m marking this one down as audio honey with a slight bee sting of nonchalance about it.
