Aston Merrygold

We greatly knew Aston Merrygold to be JLS’s back flipping cutie pie but ever since the pop group disbanded and the other members began to carve out new career paths, we’ve had to sit tight and wait out to hear news from Aston.

It’s been a while coming but you know Aston bore the baby tag of JLS, so a transition from boy band member to that of pop persona in his own right had to be instigated in the right way to securely ensure that Aston’s musical growth is on point and matches the potential that he has always exhibited to become a future pop tour de force.

Aston now stands before us transformed and restyled as a quiff sporting soul man and when we say debut single “Get Stupid” is hella funky, we means it is positively bubbling over in a James Brown projecting wall of sound influence.

I think the wait on the release of Aston’s material has been timed to perfection actually, due to the trend building momentum of pop channelling old skool retro character.

The back flips might be gone and replaced with some funky footwork, however Aston cuts a dash on all fronts from his fresh image restyle to the high-end vocal presentation which is very much on par as a star quality performance which is nudging its way into the league of young Michael Jackson.

I’m actually a bit taken aback at how much I’m into this, I didn’t think it would grab me so intensely if I’m being completely honest. When all said and done I’m left of the opinion that this is the perfect moment and launch pad for Aston and “Get Stupid” is actually a hot patootie slice of pop.

Do we sense a chart-battle between Nathan Sykes and Aston Merrygold on it’s way?, well on the strength of each artists debut singles, it’s more than likely to be a close call in the coming months that plays out that’s for sure.
