I don’t think there is anything that the boys of The Young Professionals can’t cover. They’ve done some soft pop, they’ve done the classics, now… they’ve finally entered the realm of classic rock with the latest from their album Remixes and Covers, a cover of the Bon Jovi hit “It’s My Life.”

Now, when approaching a classic it’s pretty important to put your own signature twist on it so it doesn’t sound karaoke. No one wants to hear the same song done the same way 50,000 times (we’re talking to you who’ve covered the Beatles “Come Together!”) Well, you can bet that The Young Professionals took care of that. The tempo of the song is reduced dramatically giving it an emotional feel, unlike the pump your fists tempo of the original. Ivri doesn’t need the big hair of the 80s to make this song special. His vocals take on a ballad-like tone highlighted by a very soft melodic synth really brings the true meaning of the song to the forefront. Being a song of heartache then being able to take control in the aftermath, it flips it to how you feel in the beginning prior to knowing you can reach for your own greatness. Once the song gets to the bridge it gets a tad orchestral, it’s as Ivri just grabs life with both hands and highlights the confidence in the lyrics with a great heavy feel in his voice.

It’s been quite the ride to see how Israel’s finest export has made so many songs their own. Not only changing the tempo but really flipping the immersive quality of the emotions in songs on their head. It’s as if you’re hearing the classics for the first time. It is a great reintroduction for the millennial generation to learn about the songs of yesteryear. Keep it up boys!
