Have you ever been in one of those relationships (either romantic or just with a person in general) that sucks all the life out of you? Just being around them is just a complete drain of all your positive energy. All it takes is a cut of the cord to get back to your happy place in the world. This seems to be an all too common subject that Stewart Taylor confronts head on in his latest single ‘Recharge.’

Stewart Taylor’s latest single ‘Recharge’ is not one of those singles that laments the past, but confronts one’s own personal need post-split. Stewart Taylorsays of the song:

“I’ve been with so many people who only want to sleep with me, and the second things get serious and a relationship comes into the picture, a lot of people run. I wrote this song the moment I had had enough and was like, “you know what, I don’t need this anymore. You’re not getting any more of my time and energy if you’re just gonna use me and leave when you’re done.”

Now, don’t take that Taylor Swift style songwriting as a negative. ‘Recharge’ is an instant banger that gives the proper middle finger to those who have wronged him in the past.  I’ve said it a few times before in covering Stewart’s other singles, and I’ll say it again. Stewart Taylor is immersing you straight into his world. He sings exactly what he experiences, therefore the meaning of the song becomes that much more tangible to the everyday listener.

The best part of ‘Recharge’ is that it isn’t that song that gets depressing with heavy piano, like one may expect which such a deeper subject matter. You have yourselves an instant dancefloor banger. Thick electronic melodies and a pulsating bass really highlight a strong theme. You know us here at EQ, we love a good electro-pop banger in our ears to ‘Recharge!’
