MickolaiSometimes, if you ask, you will receive!

You may remember a couple of weeks ago we covered the latest by Max Barskih?, dropping down to our knees wishing that this song was in English. Guess what? It happened! Under his Mickolai moniker, our wish has been granted with the English version ‘Last Day of Summer.’

When you look at the translation from the original, it’s pretty spot on.  All the naughty emotions translate well. It’s interesting when you look at it because, not all songs translated into English are a direct transformation. A lot of times, they’ll re-write lyrics to fit a new audience using the same melody and a very similar subject line. This has happened quite a few times with our beloved Sergey Lazarev. This time, you get a clearer view of how he wants to end his time with this lucky summer fling.  With alcohol fueling the night ahead, you get sucked into an emotion that you should never take any day for granted. The lyric repeating in your ears “Like we’re about to die!” it’s all about living in the moment.  Isn’t that how you should feel anytime you hear a great dance track? It’s impossible not to feel amazing when you hear that falsetto in the outro! That man can strike chills at the most unsuspected time.

Again, the 90’s club meets modern EDM feel can really bring a nostalgic feel without feeling dated. That’s a real troublesome element when modern day artists play with classic sound, because it can then sound like a sample without innovation. Never with Max Barskih, he knows what he’s doing and does it very well.

With this English immersion that Max Barskih is taking a journey on it’s hard for us to sit still. If it’s supposed to be a bummer that summer is coming to a close. We’re not let down, because we’re celebrating the ‘Last Day of Summer.’
