Deephouse never sounded so good as Oliver Heldens “Gecko” Fact!
Heldens, the 19 year old Dutch Producer/DJ having pretty much smashed it to prominence over the past few months with the original bass bumping instrumental format of “Gecko” and furthermore, earning itself significant stance as a go-to club staple.
“Gecko” itself is just too good for one outing and although, the most ardent of bassheads might scoff at the idea, a trickle of powerhouse vocals to elevate it further to a more mainstream appreciative audience was only to be a likely developmental outcome upon an already club borne smash.
Taking “Gecko” into the Disclosure and Gorgon City territory of emerging production talent x emerging vocal talent, the duties of lyricist and singer are taken on by former Rudimental topline collaborator Becky Hill.
The variation on the original, the “Overdrive” mix, being written and vocalled by Becky during a late night recording session with MNEK, actually evolves as equal parts fire and certainly looks set to wend it’s way onto the mainstream radar with gusto.
