This song is another personal track for Taylor who happens to be no stranger into that open book style of songwriting. He says of the song:
“Unforgiven is a message of hope through independence. It’s about being who you are, living the life you live, and not letting anyone’s judgement or prejudice get in your way. I wrote it long before the Orlando shootings, but I realized immediately afterwards that now more than ever, I have to release more songs like this support of my community.”
