Rixton 2

It happens that I’ve been social media connectively aware of Rixton for the best part of a year now and through this time, I’ve witnessed the emerging pop quartet build-up an array of re-imagined cover tracks upon their media base at YouTube from Chris Brown’sDon’t Wake Me Up” right through to the current chart smash of Route 94 ft Jess Glynne’sMy Love”.

The thing here with Rixton is that these 4 guys Jake, Danny, Charlie and Lewi are all from Manchester but on the sheer strength and amazingness of their renditions have found themselves inked to the majors Interscope/Polydor after being picked up on by the talent scout Scooter Braun.

As one might expect with the backing of a major behind them, comes a big industry type helping hand to guide their promising pop hyped journey and that comes primarily via songwriter / producer Benny Blanco on Rixton’s debut EP “Me And My Broken Heart”, with another of the EP’s tracks “Hotel Ceiling” a co-write collab between Benny Blanco and Ed Sheeran.

The lead single “Me And My Broken Heart” is a bang tidy rhythm and pop rock orientated melt down of up beat melody and arresting harmony which is considered by many to share the lines of similarity to that Maroon 5, but I don’t see Rixton quite as dusted as that on this track, my listening experience first takes me to Olly Murs and then onto Maroon 5. So Olly Murs, replicating Maroon 5 equal Rixton, is the actual pop math that goes through my mind.

Anyways allow Rixton to swagger into your life a little through the super sweet lyric video for “Me And My Broken Heart” and make up your own mind if 1D have serious competition shaping up as the next boy/man band phenomenon to rule planet pop.
