FEMM

No matter the expanse of the global music pool in general, we here at EQ are always on a world mission to shrink the pop cultural domain and bring to our readerships attention all-inclusive coverage of good up-and-coming electronic pop acts from all corners of the music universe, that would more than likely not so much fit into the now-time demographic set out by our British arm of music industry.

Scandinavia and Russia have proved to be particularly fruitful in raising our interest with their profile of inspired electronic pop crafting over the years and on the odd occasion it has been known that our horizons have been broadened further into the realm of futuristically gleaming, tech embodied K-Pop and J-Pop.

For us it was music love at first sight, when we first discovered cyber-pop girl trio Perfume at SXSW last year. These girls were able to give us a kick ass reminder of what girl power magic, these kind of pop acts used to give us in inspirational motivation and with more of a purpose than any of today’s ‘pretty voiced’ singers.

So you might conclude we are quite up for locating more of said ‘girl power’ savvy techno-pop acts! And you’d be right because a pretty voice is one thing but being considered exciting is quite something else altogether.

Our all seeing internet eyes have become locked-in on FEMM or Far East Mention Mannequins a duo from Toyko who have been manicuring a cyber-pop package for themselves both in image and sound and who are now ready to officially launch their cool as you like femm-tronica, on us pop bitches!

Like KAPOW! RiRi AKA Agent: Honey-B and Lula AKA Agent: W-Trouble are fizzing over with futuristic cyborg spiciness that is quite comic-book come to life and all you loyal EQ readers will know the magazine nerd in us has just gone into overdrive by this and which all amounts to a solid major debut occurring outside of their Asian territory.

Hey look we’ll even step aside from placing a bet on a maybe Spice Girls reunion happening, if we can now get our girl power allowance converted in k-pop kinetic energy from FEMM.

FEMM got us firing up our ray guns and we’re shooting off neon bullets of electronic pop ecstasy as we write.

An exciting new pop prospect? Absolutely!
