Anteros

London based outfit Anteros toe the line in a grittier indie-pop vein than most. They think nothing of serving their crystalline melodies with a weighty narrative backbone and yet they evoke a rather, all way enduring fascination on the whole, which is high on the likability factor.

The band headed up by Laura Hayden are quickly becoming ones to know for their strongly rhythmically led and smartly thought-out creations. They are if you like, a firmly 90’s hearted band in sound who effortlessly transplant themselves into the modern day noughties with a considerable fresh appeal which is so ripe for a resurgence.

Casting aside their undoubted hipster cool status, Anteros don’t appear to be favouring tags for their blend of peppy pop. There is plenty of tongue-in-cheek humour and real life fashioned into their songs, but they are most certainly not about challenging Lily Allen in her upstart antics. It’s more likeliest that you’ll find they take a leaf out of bands like Garbage and Republica for seeking out a little influence.

As with current single “The Beat”. The slightly broodily dark pop affair is one of intoxicating bittersweetness, glued together by Hayden’s indie effective, vocals coo, coos which are certainly on the same page of Garbage’s Shirley Manson and equally that of Republica’s Saffron also.

To be fair it’s when the chorus erupts on this break-up song that it truly becomes spellbinding in it’s new-wave hearted approach to drag us under into attending Anteros’s girls only indie-disco party. It’s what you do when you’ve been dumped by text or as Hayden will have us think at any rate, the origins of the song stem from. Most probably so.

The Beat” is definitely adorned with glitter, glamour and sweet and sourness. Empowerment and a groovetastic melody which firmly melts itself into your brain like drizzling butter hitting the pan, bubbling away in a golden pool of deliciousness.

This song is just knocking our audio senses for six, in all very good provocatively alluring kinds of ways. Marking Anteros high on our list as ones to watch.
